Steffie Watts ~ Midwife

After being the go-to person for family and friends during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, I've discovered the immense joy and satisfaction that comes from supporting people outside of the hospital setting. Recognising that not everyone has a midwife among their friends and family to call for guidance, I want to be that point of contact who provides reassurance, knowledge and compassionate care when it's needed most.

I strive to ensure every client feels comfortable talking with me over the phone or welcoming me into their home. I am a friend and family-oriented person with three sisters, five nieces, and five nephews. Our family recently celebrated the arrival of a new baby during my dad’s surprise 70th birthday dinner—my sister's waters broke in the kitchen while she was making dessert, we and rushed to the hospital and arrived just in time!

I was a doula before becoming a midwife, and a nurse before that. I have worked in public and private hospital settings, supporting first time parents, multiparas, single parents, LGBTQIA+ families, twin births, medicated and non-medicated vaginal births, caesarean births, and VBACs.

I honour this transition with great love and admiration, and I want to educate, empower, and support people by sharing my knowledge.

I respectfully acknowledge the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation who have been birthing on country for thousands of years, and honour their profound spiritual connection between babies and the land. Always was, always will be, Aboriginal land.
